Pastry Chef Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to oversee the daily production of our desserts and other baked goods. You will collaborate with our head chef to determine pastries and other sweets that complement our menu. Once the menu items are selected, you will train the other staff on how to create each dessert and how to present it properly before being served to patrons. We prefer candidates who have at least three years of professional experience.

Pastry Chef Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the head chef to create exciting new desserts that complement our menu
  • Direct the creation and preparation of all pastry dishes and baked goods
  • Train pantry cook or pastry cook on plating a pick-ups
  • Ensure all pastries are uniform and up to standard
  • Source and select necessary pastry ingredients
  • Organize and store needed tools and materials (food or otherwise)
  • Mange foods costs and inventory for pastry goods
  • Stay current and informed of useful culinary trends
  • Adhere to all sanitation, safety, and food preparation laws

Pastry Chef Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree in Pastry Arts or other culinary certification highly desired
  • 3+ years of kitchen experience preferred
  • Proficiency using kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Clear and effective communicator
  • Extremely organized with attention to detail
  • Able to work early morning hours
