Loan Officer Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Loan Officer to cultivate new business and maintain current loan clients. You will be responsible for contacting clients and discussing their loan needs to determine which loan products would suit them best. Once you establish a good match for them, you help your client through the application process, ensuring they provide all the necessary information and submit it on time. You will follow your client through the entire process, keeping them updated on the status of their application, and following through until the process is complete.

Loan Officer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with new and current clients
  • Contact customers to discuss loan needs
  • Evaluate credit and financial histories
  • Determine the best loan products for the customer’s needs
  • Process and submit loan applications and documentation
  • Advise clients on loan status
  • Maintain and update client account records
  • Coordinate with team to meet scheduled closing dates

Loan Officer Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of professional experience in the mortgage industry
  • Certification, such as certified financial marketing professional (CFMP), certified lender business banker (CLBB), and certified trust and financial advisor (CTFA), a plus
  • Current mortgage loan originator (MLO) and loan officer license
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal loan regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other
