Linguist Job Summary

Our company seeks a Linguist to study and research how a certain source language works and provide transcribed information to our clients. In this role, you primarily have translation duties. You find similar words, expressions, and colloquialisms between English and the source language. You don't need to be an interpreter or translator by trade, but we do prefer you to have either a bachelor's degree in linguistics or several years of relevant experience. We prefer bilingual or multilingual candidates who are fluent in these languages. Having a security clearance is also a plus.

Linguist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research the origins of a source language and how it is spoken in various regions
  • Discover phonetic patterns of a source language
  • Find similar words and expressions between English and the source language
  • Review audio/video material and accurately transcribe information
  • Provide clean translations to various clients
  • Perform language experiments with speakers

Linguist Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in linguistics or one to three years of related experience translating texts
  • Native or near-native communication skills in English and another language (highly preferred)
  • Knowledge of relevant cultural, political, historical, and religious elements that pertain to a source language
  • Experience performing open-source internet research
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
