Interpreter Job Summary
Our healthcare organization is looking for a Spanish Interpreter who can assist our local providers. In this role, you are an advocate for our Spanish-speaking patients as well as our medical staffâfostering a higher quality of care through mutual understanding. Although our current opening is for Spanish interpreters, our organization is also frequently in need of interpreters fluent in Mandarin, Vietnamese, and Arabic, and we encourage all applicants to check for additional openings. All applicants must submit to a written and oral skills test to demonstrate their fluency in both English and Spanish. Prior experience in healthcare is strongly preferred.
Interpreter Duties and Responsibilities
- Explain medical procedures to ESL patients and their families
- Help patients understand and complete their medical paperwork
- Provide translations of brochures and other informational materials
- Relay patient concerns to hospital staff
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations regarding patient information
Interpreter Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Bachelor's degree (a plus)
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
- Certification a plus (CCHI or NBCMI)
- Healthcare or administrative experience
- Ability to translate written and oral communications
