Freight Broker Job Summary

Our company is looking for a Freight Broker to manage shipments and third-party logistics for our clients. In this role, it's your responsibility to not only arrange shipment transportation but also help negotiate better rates and provide tracking information to clients. You may also have to fulfill the duties of the freight forwarder, a role in which you have more hands-on duties with the shipments in our warehouse. Our ideal applicant has experience with both roles, as well as relationship management, freight sales, and inside sales. However, we are willing to train the right candidate.

Freight Broker Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and facilitate shipments on behalf of clients
  • Research hauling companies
  • Negotiate between clients and carriers to help secure better rates for clients
  • Arrange for transportation and provide necessary tracking information to clients
  • Work to build relationships with customers

Freight Broker Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar role or a proven track record of sales experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook
