Field Underwriter Job Summary
Our insurance agency is seeking a Field Underwriter to join our team. In this position, your job is to inspect the property in person to decide whether or not we can afford to insure it. You will double-check all of the submitted information, review the applicant's credit history, and look for any unseen risks that might impact the property, such as faulty electrical systems or air conditioning. You will primarily work with mortgage protection insurance, but you should be familiar with a wide variety of insurance products. Our preferred candidate has a bachelor's degree and some experience with insurance sales, automotive sales, home refinancing, or mortgage sales.
Field Underwriter Duties and Responsibilities
- Travel to the site of the to-be-insured property
- Inspect properties for excess risks in factors like structural integrity, wiring, and HVAC systems
- Run credit checks on the applicant
- Double-check all submitted information for accuracy
- Provide advice on the proper insurance products
Field Underwriter Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or finance
