Companion Job Summary

We are looking for an empathetic and reliable Companion to provide support and companionship to a senior in their day-to-day life. In this role, you will help them with personal hygiene tasks, perform light housekeeping, prepare meals, and remind them to take their prescribed medications. However, your main goal is to keep them company—engaging them in conversation and safely transporting to and from social activities. This is essential to the mental and emotional well-being of the person in your charge, and can offer a reprieve to their family members or primary caregivers. This job can be challenging, so applicants who have experience caring for the elderly or people with developmental disabilities are preferred.

Companion Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide conversation and personal engagement
  • Assist with bathing and other personal hygiene tasks
  • Prepare meals
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, including changing linens, vacuuming, doing dishes, and taking out trash
  • Remind them to take their medications
  • Transport them to and from appointments, errands, and social activities

Companion Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Experience with elderly care preferred
  • Housekeeping or cooking skills a plus
  • CPR and first aid certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Physical stamina necessary to assist the person in your care
