Communications Technician Job Summary

Our telecommunications company is looking for a Communications Technician to join our field service team. You will provide support for data communications systems and equipment on behalf of our clients. This may include performing new installations, add-ons, and moves. You will also perform preventative maintenance and explain the correct operation of equipment to end-users. Applicants should have a minimum of an associate degree in telecommunications or electronics. Experience with cable installation, cable splicing, and wiring is also a plus.

Communications Technician Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install and start-up data communications systems and equipment
  • Provide support related to radiofrequency equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety checks
  • Repair cabling and wiring
  • Explain the correct operation of equipment
  • Document all actions and end-user requests

Communications Technician Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate degree in telecommunications, electronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Bachelor's degree (a plus)
  • Experience with cable installation, cable splicing, and wiring (a plus)
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Valid driver's license
