Art Teacher Job Summary

Our school is seeking an Art Teacher to provide instruction in the fine arts to our students. To excel in this position, you must be able to work with students of different ages and talent levels, from those taking their first class to more senior-level students working toward a degree in the field. Although part of the curriculum is set by the county, you will be responsible for some curriculum development. You must have at least a bachelor's degree in fine arts, preferably with a focus on education. You must also have experience with a variety of visual arts, including painting, sketching, and sculpting.

Art Teacher Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write a lesson plan for each class
  • Lead classes with a combination of lectures and hands-on practice
  • Help students improve their artwork
  • Assess student projects with their skill level and style in mind
  • Submit grades for your students at the end of each semester
  • Advise students who are hoping to pursue a career in the arts

Art Teacher Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in fine arts or art education
  • Teacher's license
  • Strong communication, teaching, and time management skills
  • Experience working with children of various ages
  • Experience with different visual arts
