Position Announcement

The Woodbury School of Business invites applications for atenure-track faculty position in Strategic Foresight and Businessto support the launch and growth of the Bachelor of Science inStrategic Foresight and Business, the first undergraduate foresightdegree of its kind in the United States.

This position emphasizes future-oriented strategy, appliedforesight, data-informed decision-making, and AI-enabled businessanalysis. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate coursesand, potentially, select graduate courses that help studentsanticipate change, evaluate uncertainty, analyze emerging trends,and translate strategic insights into practical businessrecommendations.

The faculty member will contribute to courses and programdevelopment in areas such as strategic management, scenarioplanning, environmental scanning, innovation, technology,forecasting, business analytics, competitive analysis, anddecision-making under uncertainty. The position will involveplanning, preparing, and delivering courses with measurablelearning objectives; developing engaging and applied learningexperiences; mentoring students through experiential projects; andhelping students build the skills needed to lead organizationsthrough uncertainty, technological disruption, competitive change,and global complexity.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to teaching,student mentoring, and preparing graduates for careers in strategy,consulting, innovation, market intelligence, business analysis,corporate strategy, risk management, entrepreneurship, andorganizational transformation. The candidate who also has theability to teach any of our other courses, including dataanalytics, business statistics, operations & supply chainmanagement, and/or entrepreneurship courses, would bepreferred.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Teaching Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduatecourses in areas such as: Strategic Foresight StrategyFormulation and Implementation Strategic Management GlobalStrategy Business Analytics for Strategic Decision-Making AI-enabled Strategy and Emerging Technologies Employ experientialand applied pedagogies, including:
    • Scenario planning
    • Simulations
    • Case-based learning
    • Industry-engagedprojects
  • Scholarly Research Responsibilities In alignment with AACSBexpectations for intellectual contributions Publish inpeer-reviewed academic journals or equivalent scholarly outlets Engage students, where appropriate, in applied or collaborativeresearch Seek external partnerships or funding when aligned withscholarly goals Maintain an active and sustained research agendain areas such as:
    • Strategic foresight and futures studies
    • Strategy under uncertainty
    • AI and emerging technologies inbusiness strategy
    • Systems thinking, innovation, andorganizational resilience
  • Mentoring and Curriculum Development: Mentor and advisestudents in applied research, consulting, and capstone projects,and contribute to curriculum development for the StrategicForesight and Business program, including preparing students for ajob or career path, meeting accreditation requirements, andbuilding foundational knowledge in a discipline. Help studentsdevelop specific skills. Define learning outcomes andactivities

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
  • Earned doctorate (PhD, DBA, or equivalent) in BusinessStrategy, Business Foresight, or a closely related field by the endof the year
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly productivity consistentwith tenure expectations
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the university level
  • Strong alignment with experiential and applied businesseducation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Research focus or professional expertise in strategicforesight, futures studies, or AI-enabled strategy
  • Experience integrating artificial intelligence, data analytics,or emerging technologies into teaching or research
  • Background in consulting, industry strategy, or appliedresearch
  • Experience teaching in AACSB-accredited or aspirationalbusiness programs
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to program growth andinnovation
