What is an internship in strategic foresight?

An Internship in Strategic Foresight is a temporary position where students or recent graduates support organizations in anticipating and preparing for future trends, challenges, and opportunities. Interns typically assist with research, scenario planning, trend analysis, and the development of strategies to help organizations adapt to change. This role helps interns gain experience in strategic thinking, data analysis, and long-term planning, often working closely with experienced foresight professionals or strategy teams. Such internships are valuable for those interested in careers in strategy, innovation, or future studies.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a strategic foresight internship?

As a Strategic Foresight intern, you'll typically be involved in projects that analyze future trends, emerging technologies, and potential disruptions relevant to the organization or industry. Your responsibilities may include conducting research, synthesizing data, supporting scenario planning workshops, and helping create reports or presentations for internal stakeholders. You'll likely collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as innovation, strategy, and market research, gaining hands-on experience in how organizations anticipate and plan for future changes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship in strategic foresight, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Strategic Foresight, you need strong analytical skills, research capabilities, and a background in business, economics, or related fields, often supported by current enrollment in a relevant degree program. Familiarity with foresight methodologies, data analysis tools (such as Excel or Tableau), and scenario planning frameworks is typically required.
