Admissions Registrar, Full-Time

At Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC), we understand that compassionate customer service and accurate patient registration are essential to delivering exceptional healthcare. We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and customer-focused Admissions Registrar to join our Patient Access team in La Junta.

Position Summary

As an Admissions Registrar, you will be responsible for coordinating the efficient and orderly admission and registration of patients receiving inpatient and outpatient services. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate patient information is collected, financial obligations are communicated, and patients receive excellent service throughout the registration process.

This is a Full-Time position within our Patient Access Department.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Registration amp; Admissions
  • Interview patients or their representatives and accurately enter required demographic, insurance, and financial information into the hospital information system
  • Coordinate the admission and registration process for inpatient and outpatient services
  • Obtain required patient signatures, including Conditions of Admission documentation
  • Ensure patient information is complete, current, and accurate
  • Distribute appropriate registration information to ancillary departments
  • Maintain a registration accuracy rate of 95% or greater
  • Provide patients with information regarding hospital policies, procedures, and available services
  • Refer patients to Financial Counseling when financial arrangements need to be made
Financial Transactions amp; Account Management
  • Collect copays and other patient payments as required
  • Accurately post payments to the correct patient accounts
  • Balance cash drawers and reconcile detail batch reports daily
  • Ensure all financial transactions are processed according to hospital policies and procedures
  • Maintain accuracy and accountability in handling cash and payments
Customer Service amp; Communication
  • Answer incoming telephone calls promptly, professionally, and courteously
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, families, visitors, and coworkers
  • Make general and emergency announcements over the facility's PA system accurately and timely
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and hospital departments
  • Promote a positive image of AVRMC through professional interactions and service excellence
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information at all times
  • Assist patients and visitors by providing accurate directions, information, and support
Organization amp; Productivity
  • Complete assigned duties according to established guidelines, protocols, and timelines
  • Prioritize workload effectively and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Follow established procedures and demonstrate a thorough understanding of job duties
  • Seek additional tasks and responsibilities when regular assignments are completed
  • Participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives
  • Communicate workflow issues, concerns, and opportunities for improvement to supervisors as appropriate
QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask, organize work, and solve problems effectively
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Preferred
  • Previous hospital registration or patient access experience
  • Experience handling patient payments and cash balancing
  • Additional language proficiency
  • Prior healthcare customer service experience
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and healthcare registration processes
