Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable Specialist supports the organization's accounts receivable functions and is responsible for accurately recording transactions, maintaining customer accounts, and ensuring timely billing and collection activities.
This role plays a vital part in maintaining financial accuracy while supporting the mission-driven services that help youth and families throughout New England.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Invoice payors using a variety of billing methods and systems.
  • Record invoices within the accounting system.
  • Post customer payments, including checks, ACH transactions, and credit card payments.
  • Review customer accounts for non-payments, delayed payments, and billing irregularities.
  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
  • Investigate and address customer billing inquiries.
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and documentation.
  • Identify and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this position successfully, candidates must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Required Knowledge amp; Skills:
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and general accounting procedures.
  • Experience with SAGE Intacct or similar accounting software.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and state billing regulations.
  • Understanding of state billing systems.
  • Familiarity with GAAP-compliant billing practices.
  • Strong keyboarding and computer skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including printers, copiers, and calculators.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize work effectively.
Education amp; Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Medicaid billing experience is not required but strongly encouraged.
Communication Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret operating instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to draft routine business correspondence.
  • Timely response to email and phone communications.
