Job Title: Early Childhood & Youth Programs Manager
Department: Manhattan Preschool
Reports To: Preschool Director & Language Center Director
Designation: Full-Time
Salary: $56,300.00-66,300.00 per year
Work Model: In-person
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break)

As an independent, not-for-profit organization, L'Alliance New York's mission is to provide our members and students with engaging French language classes and audacious multi-disciplinary programming that celebrates the diversity of francophone cultures and creativity around the world. L'Alliance New York is internationally known for offering the largest selection of fully-immersive French language courses for students aged one to 101, and for its renowned cultural programming including the annual Bastille Day celebration that takes place on New York's famed Madison Avenue, attracting over 50,000 visitors each year; the Crossing The Line arts and performance festival that engages NYC cultural institutions in bringing dynamic international artists to audiences; Animation First, the biggest animation festival in the U.S; and the Comic Arts Fest, celebrating the intersection of American and francophone comic arts.
Position Summary
The Early Childhood & Youth Programs Manager ensures the smooth daily operation of the Preschool and supports the broader Youth Programs ecosystem. This role provides both pedagogical and organizational support to teachers, assistants, and school leadership. It helps maintain a joyful, safe, and well-structured environment for children while ensuring strong coordination across preschool and youth programming activities.
This is an ideal role for someone who loves working with young children and youth, is highly adaptable, and thrives in a collaborative, multicultural educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pedagogical Support and Child Supervision
  • Provide classroom coverage for teachers or assistants during absences, breaks, or prep periods.
  • Support daily classroom routines and transitions to ensure a calm, positive learning environment.
  • Offer hands-on help within classrooms as needed (activity setup, small group support, organization, etc.).
  • Supervise and lead aftercare activities (games, creative workshops, arts and crafts, free play, etc.).
  • Accompany classes on field trips, ensuring children's safety and well-being.
2. Organizational and Administrative Support
  • Assist the Preschool Director with administrative and logistical tasks (document preparation, family communications, filing, materials management, etc.).
  • Help organize and coordinate school events and field trips (celebrations, parent-child workshops, open houses, etc.).
  • Facilitate effective communication between classrooms, the teaching team, the Preschool leadership, and the families.
3. Youth Programs Coordination
  • Assist the Language Center Director & Youth Programs Specialist in organizing camps throughout the year (winter, spring, and summer), help with the creation of curricula, and prepare materials.
  • Assist during camps and provide classroom coverage for teachers during field trips and nap times.
  • Serve as co-director of the summer camp and assist the camp director with all administrative tasks.
  • Help on Youth Programs throughout the year.
  • Provide classroom coverage when needed.
