Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Writer/Translator II produces, translates, updates and manages primarily game-related documents and text content, and may occasionally review and translate documents for the Human Resources, Technology and Marketing departments, in accordance with established procedures and standards.

Interacting with various departments in offices across North America, he or she is comfortable writing and translating for a wide range of audiences and purposes, demonstrates solid analytical skills and has work experience in a multidisciplinary and creative environment, preferably in the gaming industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • From a set point in the production workflow through release by the QA department, produce and/or oversee all game text content and documentation, primarily in English, in accordance with established quality standards.
  • In collaboration with game development teams and the Quality Assurance team, ensure compliance with established standards and certification laboratory requirements.
  • Act as a guide and subject matter resource for game studios regarding game documentation processes, including descriptive documents and game text content, the creation of graphic help pages, their validation, and the handling of quality assurance tickets.
  • Validate the accuracy of all text content and game rules, ensuring that language and tone are appropriate for the casino gaming industry.
  • Write, maintain and translate documents and contents relating to assigned projects from multiple departments, in French and English.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure that writing and documentation procedures and standards are applied.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by the manager.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma (DEC) in a related field or relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of work experience in writing/translating.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both French and English.
  • Ability to write clear and complete descriptive texts from complex game mechanics.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable using computer-assisted translation (CAT) and AI tools, as well as website translation plug-ins.
  • Excellent interpersonal and adaptability skills.
  • Good ability with the Office suite and Teams.
  • Good knowledge of the casino game industry.

ASSETS:

  • Knowledge of management software (Easy Redmine, Jira…).
  • Experience in a game development environment.
  • Able to work as part of a team or independently.

RESPONSABILITÉS PRINCIPALES :

Les principales responsabilités sont les suivantes :

  • Produire et superviser le contenu texte et la documentation d’un jeu, principalement en anglais, jusqu’à l'approbation du jeu par le service d’assurance qualité. 
  • En collaboration avec les équipes de développement de jeux et l’équipe d’assurance qualité, s’assurer de la conformité aux standards établis et aux exigences des laboratoires de certification.
  • Agir à titre de guide et de personne-ressource auprès des studios de jeux en ce qui concerne les processus de documentation des jeux, incluant les documents descriptifs de jeu et de contenu texte, la création graphique des pages d’aide, leur validation ainsi que le traitement des tickets provenant de l’assurance qualité.
  • Valider l’exactitude de tous les contenus texte et des règles de jeu, dans un langage adapté au domaine des jeux de casino.
  • Rédiger, tenir à jour et traduire les documents et contenus relatifs aux projets qui lui sont confiés, provenant de plusieurs services, en français et en anglais.
  • Collaborer avec les gestionnaires de projets pour assurer l’application des normes et procédures en matière de rédaction et de documentation.
  • Toutes autres tâches connexes confiées par le ou la gestionnaire.

COMPÉTENCES ET EXPÉRIENCE REQUISES :

  • Baccalauréat ou diplôme collégial (DEC) dans un domaine connexe ou expérience pertinente.
  • Minimum de 5 ans d’expérience professionnelle en rédaction et/ou en traduction.
  • Excellentes compétences en rédaction en anglais.
  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication verbale et écrite, en français et en anglais.
