Where do writers work?

Writers work in almost every industry. Businesses, governments, and other organizations all have information to communicate in some way, and many hire professional writers, either to be on staff or to handle specific projects. Depending on your qualifications and interests, you may work for a newspaper, a healthcare company, a marketing agency, or a research facility, either as a staff writer or a freelancer. About two-thirds of writers are self-employed according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. As a freelancer, you work from the location of your choice to create content for your clients, such as your home, a favorite coffee shop, or a shared office.
