Job description

Job Title: Technical Writer

Job Location: Montreal, QC

Job Code: 38439

Job Schedule: Day Shift

Compensation Range: Between $50,500 - $93,500 CDN annually

Essential Functions:

  • Build and maintain client aids that go beyond traditional documentation, such as online video, demos, guided tours, and other educational techniques;
  • Edit existing developer-written content in preparation for publication;
  • Prepare and create instructor materials (course outlines, documents, presentations, and training aids) and classroom agenda;
  • Conduct end user trainings and presentations on the IPMS product for client;
  • Continuously enhance technical instructional delivery and presentation skills;
  • Act as an editor to ensure consistency in training documentation across the IPMS product;
  • Translations to French of technical documents

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Bachelor of Science in Technical Communication, Technical Translation or related discipline preferably in a technical field such as computer science or a focus on English writing or communications
  • Strong written and verbal communication and experience working with content in multiple mediums;
  • Excellent writing, editing, communication and teamwork skills, including willingness and ability to consult with subject matter experts from engineering;
  • Experience working with the following preferred tools: Author-It (mandatory), Acrobat, Microsoft Office;
  • Bilingual French and English with good English writing skills;
  • Regular use of a content management system (CMS) to manage the lifecycle of technical documentation including draft, review, and publish phases;

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Previous technical writing experience in a fast-paced engineering environment is an asset;
  • Experience in a rapidly changing environment is also beneficial in this challenging position.
  • Some experience in development and delivery of training/facilitated learning is beneficial but not required;

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
