Job description

Hours: Between the hours of 7:15 a.m. - 5:15 p.m. Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week

The Processing Assistant for the dental program supports clinical and community activities by handling customer service, data entry, word processing, and performing clerical duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greets and registers patients and visitors
  • Interviews clients and obtains financial information, medical and personal data
  • Ensures confidentiality of data, obtains necessary signatures for release of confidential data
  • Maintains dental appointment schedule within specified scheduling guidelines
  • Provides orientation to new patients
  • Maintains working knowledge of NC Medicaid, NC Tracks, iDentalSoft software and common insurance plans
  • Ensures data is entered accurately

Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Associates degree or higher preferred. Fluency in English and Spanish required. Experience in medical or dental office setting. Experience with medical and/or dental software and NC Tacks. Bilingual assessment must be passed pre-hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic
  • Ability to follow and apply policies and procedures
  • Must be able to type at a reasonable rate of speed
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain effective working relationships with clients, community partners, school administrative staff, nurses and the general public
