Job Description: Job Summary: This job focuses primarily on the processing and storing of various varietal wines. Push-downs, barrel siphoning and cleaning, bottling and labeling, some work with forklifts are among the tasks carried out. Heavy lifting, slick surfaces, and pungent odors in a constantly chilled environment.

Task
• Set up, adjust, and operate winery equipment safely and correctly, including pumps, presses, de-stemmers, shaker tables, filters, forklifts, bin dumper, bottling line, labeling machine, and any other winery equipment.
• Perform basic cellar operations safely and correctly, including racking, topping, barrel filling, transferring wine, making additions to wine, punch-downs, pump-overs, packing wine boxes, cleaning, and any other duties and responsibilities as required to meet production goals.
• Monitor material flow on instruments such as temperature or pressure gauges, indicators, or meters to ensure optimal processing conditions.
• Weigh and/or measure out and safely and correctly handle winery chemicals including tartaric, malic, and citric acids, potassium meta-bisulfite, yeast, nutrients, tannins, dry ice, and other winery additive and/or sanitation chemicals.
• Examine samples visually, by taste, and/or by smell to verify quality and detect obvious defects and/or spoilage before any work orders are initiated.
• Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain logs of instrument readings, test results, and shift production, and provide production information for entry into computer databases.
• Clean and/or sanitize tanks, hoses, winery equipment, and barrels, including all areas of production with appropriate chemicals and at the appropriate water temperature.
• Inspect machines or equipment for hazards, operating efficiency, malfunctions, wear, or leaks, making any issues immediately known to a supervisor.
• Communicate processing instructions to other workers where applicable.
• Assemble fittings, valves, and any other parts, mechanical or otherwise, to equipment in order to prepare equipment for operation.
• Maintain or repair hoses, pumps, filters, and any other processing equipment using hand tools.
• Pack bottles into cartons or crates, using machines or by hand.
• Operate machines safely and in accordance with environmental regulations.
• Be able to bend, climb stairs and/or ladders and lift 50 pounds repeatedly using proper form to avoid injury.
