Now in itโ€™s 11th year, Point of the Bluff Vineyards is poised for tremendous growth with the vision of leadership that we hope will include you. We are now at a point where we are comfortable with growing within all channels of sales including DTC, e-Commerce, Club, and Wholesale. Point of the Bluff is an acclaimed winery with passionate ownership and leadership as part of the Point of the Bluff Hospitality group who also has awarded and celebrated restaurants, sustainable farms, concert venues and events venues. This position is to focus on the growth of all things wine with our winery manager and management team.

Weโ€™re looking for a Wine Sales Manager who can own and grow both direct-to-consumer (DTC) and wholesale channels, bringing energy, creativity, and strategic thinking to everything from the tasting room floor to distributor relationships. We have multiple locations for expansion and growth with DTC as well as several accounts ready for us to make the plunge into wholesale, including Michelin star restaurants in Manhattan. Growth in this position will only be limited by creativity.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for driving revenue across tasting room, wine club, online sales, and wholesale distribution. Youโ€™ll be equally comfortable coaching staff during a busy Saturday, analyzing sales trends on Monday morning, and pitching placements to accounts midweek.

This is a handsโ€‘on leadership role for someone who understands that great wine sells through story, experience, and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

Direct-to-Consumer (DTC)

  • Lead and elevate tasting room performance, hospitality standards, and sales conversion
  • Train and coach staff on steps of service, upselling, and wine club acquisition
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow:
    • Wine club memberships
    • Average order value
    • Repeat visitation
  • Oversee e-commerce
  • Assist and consult marketing manager on DTC campaigns

Wholesale & Distribution

  • Work with winery manager to build and manage relationships with distributors, retailers, and on-premise accounts
  • Work with winery manager to identify and secure new placements in key markets
  • Conduct staff trainings, tastings, and market visits
  • Collaborate on pricing strategy, allocations, and inventory planning
  • Represent the brand at trade events and tastings
  • Work with winery manager to create and execute a cohesive sales strategy across all channels
  • Analyze sales data and trends to inform decisionโ€‘making
  • Collaborate with other managers on product positioning and storytelling
  • Assist in forecasting and production planning based on sales goals
  • Lead by exampleโ€”this is not a deskโ€‘only role

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in wine sales, hospitality, or related field (management experience preferred)
  • An understanding of DTC sales and/or wholesale distribution with desire to learn and grow with the company
  • Proven drive to increase revenue and build customer relationships
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for wine; knowledge of Finger Lakes wines a plus
  • Comfortable working weekends, events, and occasional travel
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn POS and CMS technology systems
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
