WIC Program Assistant

The WIC Program Assistant reports to and provides administrative and clerical support for the WIC Director and is responsible for scheduling and organizing appointments and referrals for the participants of the Women Infants and Children Program. The Program Assistant prepares and schedules participants to consult with the WIC Nutrition Assistant (WNA) or Registered Dietitian (RD). The Program Assistant issues WIC Food benefits to participants and instructs participants in the use of WIC benefits using the WIC Card. The Program Assistant is responsible for providing a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, maintaining a positive, caring professional attitude and working together with the WIC Team. The Program Assistant is a role model, displaying a consistent attitude of excellent customer service both internally and externally. The Program Assistant is responsible for answering the phone at all WIC clinic offices in a manner consistent with the program's and organization's quality and customer service standards. Approximately 80% of time is spent with direct participant clerical services and 20% on other duties as may be assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. WIC Participant Intake, WIC Participant Scheduling/Re-scheduling, Issuance of WIC food benefits and transfer of Participants both in and out of the WIC agency.

2. Accurate preparation of enrollment and recertification files.

3. Entrance of WIC intake components into participant WIC WISE record

4. Consistently documents client contacts in WIC WISES in compliance with State WIC Division regulations

5. Safeguards participant records in compliance with State WIC Division regulations

6. Performs other duties as may be assigned, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to complete extra duties as needed

7. Can be cross trained and may perform work in cross trained positions as needed

9. Travel to WIC remote clinic locations and other community events.

10. Adheres to all local agency policies, company policies and State WIC policies
