Job description

SUMMARY
This is a key position for assuring adherence to the Sartori Quality System, including; heading continuous improvement initiatives, leading food safety and quality training efforts and assuring compliance to customer, regulatory and third-party food safety and quality guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
ยง Help coordinate the implementation, adherence and maintenance of the Sartori Quality System and Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs.
ยง Instructs and/or develops UltiPro Learning training for Sartori Whey Converting facility on food safety, good manufacturing practices, allergens, food defense, SQS policies, and all other food safety or quality topics.
ยง Ensures FSQ Analyst facility inspections, glass and plastic, and internal audits adhere to quality and food safety standards and appropriate corrective / preventative actions are taken.
ยง Leads small cross-functional teams focusing on continuous improvement, root cause analysis and corrective action using tools such as statistical process controls, and A3 problem solving methods for quality related issues and complaints.
ยง Provides detailed response to quality related issues.
ยง Assists with Non-Conformance Report Management and disposition of affected product
ยง Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure quality expectations are defined and implemented for new products and processes. Updates quality systems, policies and work instructions as needed.
ยง Assures that calibrations are maintained on all equipment in the plant.
ยง Leads quality work orientation of new Team Members including onboarding of supervisors and other leaders.
ยง Participates and sometimes leads regulatory, customer, and 3rd party audits at Sartori Whey Converting facility.
ยง Partners with Production Supervisors to improve processes, methodology, and product consistency. ยง Collaborates with the Sanitation Team and manufacturing Team Members on work instructions and building sanitation knowledge.
ยง Assists with verification and validation of sanitation processes and procedures.
ยง Participates in Sartori Whey Converting Food Safety and Food Defense Teams.
ยง Facilitates routine food safety team meetings and "quality awareness" meetings at the Sartori Whey Converting facility.
ยง Works with facility management to achieve quality metric goals as established by the Manufacturing Quality Manager and production team.
ยง Immediately takes action on and reports any food safety or quality issues to facility management or other individual with authority to take action
ยง Backup Provision: In the absence of the QA Coordinator, the SW QA Manager will fulfill the responsibilities of the QA Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Nutrition, or related field, required.
Bachelor's degree, preferred.
1-3 years of related experience in a food facility, experience in quality systems, required. Experience in a dairy facility, preferred.
Experience implementing and applying quality tools (CAPA, Root Cause Analysis, FMEA) and auditing experience, preferred.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
โ€ข Knowledge of basic scientific principles and microbiological principles and techniques and quality control principles and procedures.
โ€ข Knowledge of adult learning principles to conduct effective training.
โ€ข Strong computer skills to include proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, JD Edwards or related ERP.
โ€ข Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to establish goals, convey ideas and provide clear direction.
โ€ข Leadership ability, ability to delegate and lead small groups.
โ€ข Self-motivated and results driven with a high degree of ownership and accountability.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands or arms, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to hazardous substances as outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
This position requires occasional off-shift work.
