Job description

For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Nutrition Sanitation Team Member. 

Leprino Foods broke ground on the $1 billion facility in the summer of 2022. The plant will become operational in 2025 with Phase 1 and will become fully operational by 2026!

Summary Description:

This position performs a variety of duties. The Nutrition Sanitation Team Member II will perform dry and wet cleaning tasks in all production work areas and be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the facility in alignment with GMP's.

Job Duties (Accountability Categories and Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities):  NOTE:  The job may include other "non-essential" responsibilities and duties that are not listed on this form.

  • Clean/Sanitize all drains in Whey HTST/Separator/Clarifier room, CIP Room, Relco Dryer, Higher Pressure Pump Room #1, Gea Dryer, Higher Pressure Pump Room #2, Gea Evaporator, Crystallizer Tank Vestibules, Powder Loadout, Powder Bins all levels (weekly), Sweet whey all levels (weekly)
  • Issue chemical cart to each room needed (includes refilling of chemicals)
  • Clean/Sanitize/Stock Nutrition redline room, this includes stocking GMP stainless steel cabinet located in Evaporator room, Packaging, Warehouse
  • Collect and dispose of trash from all rooms daily
  • Clean trash bins (weekly)
  • Clean and stock all handwashing sinks in the Nutrition department
  • Remove all chemical carts during production
  • Clean/Sanitize Whey Better CIP Room
  • Inspect/clean filter housing in CIP Room (will need training)
  • Other jobs assigned by management
  • Perform work in a safe manner by following safety procedures and policies, critical safety rules, and expected standard conduct
  • This position is responsible and accountable to ensure all areas are maintained to comply with food safety, regulatory, and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and company policies

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend basic English language
  • Ability to evaluate and identify mechanical conditions and make adjustments or corrective action as necessary
  • Ability to access elevated work areas such as climbing ladders/stairs
  • Basic math skills to be able to perform mathematical functions
  • Ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures
  • Ability to maintain clean work area according to good manufacturing processes
  • Good communication skills to communicate with co-workers and oncoming/outgoing shifts
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and wear chemical PPE

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous cleaning experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Physical/Mental Requirements and Work Environment:

Work Environment Description:

  • This position will be exposed to an office environment with inside ambient temperatures and a production operations environment including both wet and dry production areas with loud noise and varying degrees of temperature from freezer to extreme heat 
  • Requires frequent walking, standing and climbing stairs 
  • Regular bending and reaching 
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

This position requires the incumbent to work on site at the facility to be able to perform the associated job responsibilities.
