Job description

Responsible to manage and oversee the Fitness Center and Wellness Program to include the Membership program and pool activities and maintenance. This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing programs across campus for residents physical wellness needs. This position will act as an instructor of many fitness and wellness classes and must maintain educational credentials to do so. Will also assure that on-going education and involvement of residents, members, and staff is being designed to promote a wellness lifestyle and environment. The position will supervise the Fitness Center instructors (contractors and employees), as needed. Position may also be required to supervise students, interns, and volunteers from time to time. The position will also require them to work with the Life Enrichment department for programming in all levels of care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science degree in physical education, exercise science or equivalent required

Group exercise instructor certifications or ability to become certified required, multiple program certifications preferred

CPR certification or ability to become required

Two or more years of experience in the development, implementation and management of fitness programming for the older adult

NATURE & SCOPE:

  • Must be comfortable with a flexible work schedule that includes some holidays, evening, and weekends.
  • Must posses the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to convey a sense of caring and respect to staff, residents, family members, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Must have the ability to seek out new methods of programming and incorporate them into existing practices as approved.
  • Must be able to interact with individuals of all ages and maturity levels to assure and promote intergenerational projects.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must demonstrate ability to effectively lead department.
  • Must have ability to work successfully in a professional, interdisciplinary team.
  • Should have basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Manual dexterity-particularly of hands and arms.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, stand, bend, reach and life (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lead exercise/fitness programs on land and water.
  • Ability to read and interpret written material.
  • Ability to represent the Heritage at Lowman professionally both in manner and appearance.

Ability to give suitable instructions and assignments to employees and supervise their performance.

Familiar with organization, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility.
