Job description

TITLE:  IT TECHNICIAN
POSITION: FULL TIME/DIRECT HIRE

With 18 retail stores, an online store, an extensive reuse/recycling operation, and our Contract Services division, we help individuals overcome barriers to employment, build sustainable lives and communities. 
 
The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support for computer systems, hardware, and software. They diagnose and resolve technical issues, perform regular maintenance tasks, and upgrade systems as necessary. The IT Technician will work closely with other IT staff, end users, and stakeholders to ensure that IT services are delivered in a timely and effective manner. 
 
Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Coordinate and support the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including hardware and software installations, maintenance, and support. 
  • Assist with the implementation of new technology projects and initiatives. 
  • Maintain and update hardware and software inventory. 
  • Document technical processes, procedures, and solutions for reference and training purposes. • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to understand their technology needs and ensure that IT services are aligned with organizational goals. 
  • Monitor systems and network performance. 
  • Install and configure software and hardware (printers, network cards, etc.). 
  • Respond to Service Desk Ticket System work tickets and resolve routine equipment, software, or network failures. If necessary, escalate complex or high-priority technical issues to the IT Team for resolution. 
  • Record all activities in the appropriate journal entries within the ticketing system and close the ticket with the resolution entered upon completion of the job. 
  • Offer timely technical support to end-users via email, phone, or on-site. 
  • Represent the IT department services to the Interim client community in a professional, effective, and respectful manner. 
  • Work independently on solo projects with minimal supervision and collaboratively with team members. 
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for Windows/Mac and some server-related issues. 
  • Resolve printer issues and mapped drive connection problems. Manage logon scripts, create new user accounts, file rights, and folder permissions. 
  • Reimage workstations and carry out other special duties and projects assigned. 
 
Responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally either orally or in writing. 
 
Requirements:
 
  • Experience in network management and help desk support. 
  • Solid knowledge of IT systems and applications. 
  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN configuration. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues. 
  • Possess 1-2 years of desktop support experience and a strong understanding of computer hardware and software. 
  • Display impeccable communication and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Maintain a friendly disposition and deliver excellent customer service. 
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn and develop professionally while working in a dynamic business environment. 
  • Be willing to work occasional holidays, evenings, and weekends. 
 
Preferred qualifications: 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science is preferred. 
  • Valid CA driver’s license Working conditions 
  • Works in an office environment 
  • Works a standard workweek with occasional evenings and/or weekends. 
  • Occasional local travel to GWSV’s retail stores 
 
Preferred Technological Knowledge: 
 
  • OKTA, Office 365, Intune, JAMF, Netskope, POS Systems
