Job description

The Per Diem Clinical Social Worker provides direct clinical care to patients in a therapeutic outpatient setting. This role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure patient-centered, evidence-based, high-quality care. This position will be providing coverage on the weekends.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads groups and/or psychosocial assessments considering the biological, psychological, and systemic perspectives in understanding patients.
  • Works cohesively with other team members and departments and is a contributor to the team; actively communicating with supervisor and other Social Workers, as needed.
  • Holds self-accountable to helping the patient and family achieve desired results, understanding and identifying professional strengths, limitations and challenges.
  • Participate in relevant staff meetings and trainings.
  • Conduct group therapy sessions using techniques suitable for the ages of the patients served.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
  • Experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
  • Proficient in group work and family systems approaches.
  • Strong experience in comprehensive assessment within a mental health context.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in social work or related field
  • Licensed as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in the State of Connecticut.
  • CPR BLS Certification required
  • Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Certification required
  • Previous experience in a mental health setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to walk to common areas for group sessions
