Dispatcher/Radio Controller- Relief (Full-Time)

Reports To: Manager of Transit Center Operations / Manager of Dispatch

Union: Teamsters Local 118

Compensation: $28.81 per hour

Schedule: Floater assigned to cover vacant Radio Control and Dispatch shifts; must be available for flexible days, shifts, and hours.

About the Role

This safety-sensitive, first-line supervisory position supports both Dispatch and Radio Control functions while ensuring safe and efficient transportation operations.

What You'll Do
  • Perform all Radio Controller duties using CAD/AVL and radio systems.
  • Coordinate communications with Road Supervisors, Transit Center staff, police, and emergency responders.
  • Manage delays, breakdowns, accidents, weather events, and service disruptions.
  • Monitor alarms, security cameras, access control systems, and Transit Center activity.
  • Maintain operational logs, reports, and operator performance documentation.
  • Assign operators and buses; manage the Extra Board and manpower coverage.
  • Monitor attendance, operator picks, schedules, and time records.
  • Coordinate vehicle availability with Maintenance for daily pullout.
  • Support compliance with ATU Local 282 and Teamsters Local 118 agreements.
  • Make Transit Center announcements and perform gate assignments.

  • High School Diploma or GED plus two years of transit-related experience.
  • Supervisory experience or equivalent training.
  • Knowledge of routes and schedules.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to motivate others and work effectively in a team environment.
