Job description

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 1st shift Electronics Technician at our Conover, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for all electronic and computer components of all plant production equipment is installed, repaired, and maintained to assure that the machinery is operating at an optimum production level necessary to manufacture product(s) for internal and external customers on a timely basis.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Must be certified forklift, genie boom, and scissor lift operator or willing to obtain certification.
  • Advises Maintenance Manager of electrical/mechanical problems and suggest recommendations as a solution.
  • Must have the ability to build, maintain, and repair all electronic and computerized systems as directed with little or no supervision.
  • Uses the established purchase order system to order repair parts as required.
  • Must have proven experience or training in the repair, design, and installation of electronic devices for machinery and electronic control systems.
  • Must have knowledge of the national Electrical Code with preferable license to reflect experience in its use.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, motor controls, and all types of machinery sensors and equipment to include PLC programming and trouble shooting.
  • Ability to retrofit machine control systems, read, modify, and create machinery electrical schematics.
  • Installation, repair, and retrofitting of motor controllers to include all types of motor AC and DC drives, and systems. Highly computer literate for the maintaining of machine control systems software and upgrades.
  • Must have the ability to recognize problems after they occur through the use of a preventative maintenance program.

Education:

Major duties and responsibilities of the job can be satisfactorily performed with a high school diploma or GED and/or two to three years specialty or technical training.

Experience:

Must have two to four years’ experience in the electronic field and a minimum of two years working in an industrial environment with extensive knowledge of computer systems and advanced electrical/electronics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read a tape measure. Basic reading, writing, and math skills are required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, holidays, weekend, and call-in with little notice.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must pass an audio metric and pulmonary test.
  • Must not be afraid of height.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00 am-3:15 pm or depending on business needs

Pay Rate: $31.69 - $33.39
