Job Description
The starting pay for this position begins at $17.85/hr and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Please note this is a temporary seasonal position anticipated to run from September 15th, 2026 through January 15th, 2027. Hours will vary throughout the assignment based on business and seasonal merchandising needs. Full-time and overnight availability will be required during peak Christmas installation and takedown periods, with reduced seasonal hours during other portions of the assignment.
Based on performance and business needs, there may be an opportunity to be considered for a more permanent role at the end of the season, if one is available.
The Visual Merchandising Specialist is a key member of the Biltmore Retail team, responsible for bringing our brand to life through thoughtful, consistent, and impactful visual merchandising across all estate retail stores, including the Winery and exhibit/event spaces. This position supports revenue goals and the overall guest experience by translating Biltmore's legacy of beauty, design, and hospitality into compelling visual displays and retail environments. This role works collaboratively with the Visual Manager, Buying team, Inventory Control, and Store Leadership to execute merchandising strategies that support seasonal stories, product launches, and promotional objectives. The Visual Merchandiser also helps maintain high standards of presentation and brand consistency throughout the estate's varied and uniquely themed retail locations.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Support the implementation of seasonal floor sets, displays, and focal product areas across all Biltmore Estate stores.
2. Maintain consistent visual identity across all stores while preserving the unique character of each location.
3. Refresh in-store displays regularly to maintain visual appeal and relevance.
4. Ensure stock levels are appropriate in stores to maintain visual standards.
5. Interpret creative direction and translate brand assets into physical merchandising solutions.
6. Provide guidance and hands-on training to store associates on maintaining visual standards.
7. Act as a visual liaison across stores to ensure clarity and consistency in execution.
8. Offer on-site support during high traffic seasons or store transitions (holidays, new launches, including daily stocking needs).
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Make recommendations on ways to promote individual items.
2. Consistently maintain knowledge of merchandise promotion.
3. Organize workflow and follow through with minimal supervision.
4. Provide general assistance and support to the department, leadership, and company as needed.
5. Travel between all Estate retail locations; must have a valid driver's license.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma required. Additional education, training, and/or certification(s) preferred.
2. At least two (2) years of related retail or design experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The ideal candidate will have previous merchandising experience in an upscale retail environment.
3. Demonstrated commitment to providing world-class internal/external guest service.
4. Knowledge of visual merchandising promotion, techniques, and strategy is helpful.
5. Outstanding attention to detail with a focus on quality; ability to understand and effectively execute Biltmore brand aesthetics and design.
6. Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
7. Ability to be proactive, take initiative, and troubleshoot; should be able to creatively problem solve and exercise good judgment.
8. Strong project and time management, organizational, and planning skills.
9. Requires travel between all retail locations; must have a valid drivers license.
Physical Requirements:
1. This position requires the ability to carry equipment, climb ladders/stairs, and work in confined areas.
2. Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods.
3. Ability to constantly lift and move merchandise and displays, up to 35 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
