About the team:
Our Sales and Merchandising team's mission is to build a strong foundation of Independent Operator talent, coach and develop our Independent Operators, and assist their efforts in maintaining overall productivity and success in their store. Our team is collaborative and authentic as we promote open and respectful relationships between Independent Operators and Grocery Outlet. Successful members of our team use their analytical ability and drive to complete store operations projects on time and provide excellent customer service to team members, GOI employees, operators, and vendors.
About this role:
The Merchandising Manager oversees the on-site retail merchandising team to successfully execute New Store Openings, Remodels, and Company Initiatives. The Merchandising Manager reports to the Director of New Store Merchandising. The Merchandising Manager partners and work in conjunction with the Store Operator, Director of New Store Merchandising, Director of Store Design, Vendors and Buying Department to ensure the assigned projects are completed according to project schedule.
Responsibilities Include:
You will ensure all projects are completed successfully by providing leadership, daily planning, project communication, and onsite problem solving and decision making during the execution of new projects.
  • Primary contact and resource for all market merchandising communication and execution.
  • Train and develop Retail Merchandisers in key company procedures of receiving, merchandising, pricing, safety, and operational systems.
  • Safety Captain for the Retail Merchandising Team.
  • Recruits and hires the Retail Merchandising team members.
  • Coordinates and communicates with the Director of Merchandising to ensure all fixtures are installed according to specifications.
  • Tracks and submits the Retail Merchandising bi-weekly payroll.
  • Coordinates with Inventory Planning and Purchasing Team's to obtain the right inventory mix per store.
  • Coordinates with Logistics Supervisor to schedule delivery of product and communicate replenishment issues.
  • Coordinates with Construction to resolve any open construction issues.
  • Coordinates with Marketing to resolve any signage and décor issues.
  • Schedules team travel according to company travel policy.
  • Plan, prepare, and merchandise new stores for opening store physical inventory process.
  • Deliver assigned New Stores, Remodels, and Capital Initiatives projects on planned schedule.
  • Conduct team reviews.
  • Responsible for managing project budgets
  • Model the way, as a professional manager and leader while working in the field representing Grocery Outlet, Inc.

Travel is approximately 80-90% of the time. Our Set Crew team is constantly moving to new locations to help build new stores, and remodel old stores, so flexibility in schedule and travel is a must. About You:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional leadership and supervisory ability and behavior.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional written and verbal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional typing skills and working knowledge of computers with Excel and Word applications.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional competency with Outlook and able to arrange meetings through Outlook Calendar.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional competency with Google drive and Excel.
  • Able to demonstrate exceptional time management, and organizational skills.
  • Bonus if you have: 5 years of experience in supervising a high-volume retail store and/or supervising the openings or remodeling of the same.
