Job description

Position: Office Manager/Legal Assistant
Department: Norman A. Wiggins School of Law
Status: Part Time
Position Summary:
The Office Manager/Legal Assistant will assist in managing the daily duties and functions of the Stubbs Bankruptcy Clinic at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a part-time position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains and updates office procedures and policies
  • Work closely with the Director, clinic clients, and students working in the clinic
  • Set up and manage client files
  • Audit student files and maintain quality control of client files
  • Answer phone calls and emails from all clinic parties
  • Assist the Director with course planning and class preparation
  • Assist Director, attorneys and students as needed with special assignments
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Order and set up catering for special events
  • Prepare purchase requisitions, check requisitions, and assist Director with administrative paperwork
  • Assist with grant programs as applicable
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Assist in keeping clinic office space, files, and records organized and stocked with supplies
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to; FERPA and other state and federal mandates
  • Other job-related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, certification, and/or experience required
  • Experience in a higher education, legal, or non-profit sector is also desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Possess excellent customer service skills necessary to interact with clients and law students
  • Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
  • Knowledgeable regarding software systems including Office 365, Blackboard, and practice management applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and common methods of digital communication such as web conferencing, web/text chat
  • Proficiency using/administering social media platforms
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, and the public. Must be pro-active and a self-starter to accomplish the goals and purpose of the clinic
  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
  • Exercise good judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet set deadlines
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a changing environment
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours
  • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
