Front Desk Receptionist
Michigan Locations: Commerce Twp., Fraser, Port Huron, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, and Warren
Position Summary

Fraser Eye Care Center is a leading ophthalmology practice committed to providing exceptional, patient-centered eye care in a welcoming and professional environment. We are seeking a friendly, organized, and dependable Front Desk Receptionist to join our team.

As the first point of contact for our patients you will play a vital role in creating a positive patient experience. This position requires excellent customer service, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced medical office. The ideal candidate is comfortable using technology, enjoys helping people, and thrives in a team-oriented environment.

Skills Required
  • Welcome and assist patients and visitors with professionalism, warmth, and courtesy.
  • Register new patients and update demographic, insurance, and personal information in the practice management system.
  • Assist patients with the self-service check-in kiosk and ensure an efficient check-in process.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and accurately enter insurance information.
  • Collect patient copays, balances, and other payments while maintaining accurate payment records.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Answer high-volume incoming phone calls, route calls appropriately, take detailed messages, and assist callers with scheduling and general inquiries.
  • Contact patients regarding appointments, reminders, and other practice communications.
  • Scan and upload patient documents into the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Process incoming referrals, medical records requests, and other administrative documentation.
  • Run daily and weekly reports as assigned.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and practice policies.
  • Keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, technicians, and fellow team members to provide an exceptional patient experience.
  • Rotate between front desk and call center responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous medical office, ophthalmology, optometry, or healthcare customer service experience preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), practice management software, and standard computer applications.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable learning and using patient check-in kiosks and other office technology.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while performing front desk duties.
  • Willingness to rotate between front desk and call center responsibilities.
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work at multiple Fraser Eye Care Center office locations as needed.
