Job Description
A licensed electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems, reading blueprints, troubleshooting issues with testing devices, and ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Key duties include installing circuits, control systems, and lighting, performing preventative maintenance, repairing faults, and potentially training apprentices, all while adhering to strict safety and code standards for commercial or industrial settings.
Responsibilities
  • Installation: Laying out and installing electrical power, lighting, and control systems in new and existing structures.
  • Maintenance: Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical components like transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing problems using testing equipment (voltmeters, ohmmeters) and repairing or replacing defective wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Code Compliance: Ensuring all work strictly follows state and local building regulations and the NEC.

Qualifications
  • Valid licensed electrician with a minimum of 5 years' experience (e.g., Journeyman, Master)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, systems, applications and principles
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safety and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires 100% mobility to include frequent standing, bending and reaching from floor to 6ft., climbing using ladders and stairs
  • Transporting, pushing, pulling, lifting and maneuvering large loads weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity
  • Requires normal sense of smell, touch, and sound
  • Requires normal vision range and the ability to distinguish letters and symbols
  • Requires communicating by telephone, beeper, and radio
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, dust, small and/or high working space
