Job description

The Consultative Coder provides medical coding expertise to support clinical staff (Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers) to ensure the documentation within medical records supports diagnostic and procedural coding. We consider this a hybrid-remote role where the majority of the work will be done from home; but role will occasionally use Humana office space for collaboration and other face-to-face needs.

Candidate must reside in Las Vegas, NV

Responsibilities:

  • You will cultivate relationships with clinicians to serve as the single contact for questions and issues relating to documentation and coding.

  • You will identify documentation improvement areas and partner with clinical and coding education to deliver education related to improvement opportunities.

  • You will perform Quality Assurance on post-visit reviews.

  • You will manage the special handling of Mergers & Acquisitions by performing problem list cleanup and conducting process training on documentation requirements.

  • You will collaborate with HEDIS leaders and champions to identify HEDIS gaps and deficiencies.

Required:

  • 3 or more years of technical Medical Coding experience or similar (including IPA and Offshore coding management)

  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC Certification

  • Must reside in Las Vegas, NV

  • Will travel a min of 1 week a month to assigned clinics

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Zoom/Teams

  • Must be comfortable presenting on camera

Other:

  • Experience with Optum Encoder or AthenaOne EMR

  • CRC or CDEO

  • Comfortable with public speaking

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$59,300 - $80,900 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
