Department: BH Neurology Clinic
Shift: Day
Working Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Summary:
The Coding Technician is responsible for accurate coding, account billing, and posting of clinic, hospital, and nursing home charges for all physicians on a daily basis. This role reviews medical records for completeness, assigns appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes, enters coded data into electronic systems, resolves coding-related claim denials, and provides guidance to clinical staff on coding practices. The Coding Technician supports compliant billing, optimal reimbursement, and overall revenue cycle efficiency.

Required Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  3. Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  4. Basic computer proficiency and ability to use coding software and EHR systems.
  5. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
  7. Attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Certified Professional Coder (CPC),Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification.
  2. Previous experience in medical coding or healthcare revenue cycle.
  3. Experience coding for outpatient clinics, physician services, or multi-specialty practices.
  4. Familiarity with Epic or other electronic health record systems.
  5. Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management or related field.

This job will be authorized 80.00 hours bi-weekly.
