Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will design, develop, and implement workflows for their area of operations. Position responsibilities include working with the VP and Chief Pharmacy Officer, managers, leads and staff in accordance with the pharmacy department's standard operating procedures and managing the daily pharmacy operations. The Supervisor is required to work independently in a highly efficient and organized manner to support the department and staff that reports directly to them.
This is a Full Time role working out of our South Lake Union Campus. While the role is primarily Monday through Friday from 8 to 5, it will include periodic evening and weekend shifts dependent on clinical need.
Responsibilities
Workflow and Operations Management:
  • Manage day to day pharmacy workflows.
  • Proactively design, improve and operationalize workflow.
  • Appropriately delegate projects and responsibilities to the Lead Pharmacy Technician or other technicians as applicable
  • Assist the Pharmacy Operations Manager with operational issues which require coordination across pharmacy teams.
  • Coordinate and run daily huddles, staff, and project workgroup meetings with pharmacy team members.
  • Contact outside departments for issue resolution related to pharmacy processes.
  • Review patient safety events.
  • Participate in organizational and departmental process improvement initiatives, providing leadership for the team.
  • Develop and/or maintain policies and procedures.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Team Management:
  • Manage the hiring and recruitment process for pharmacy personnel as applicable to the department
  • Ensure appropriate scheduling and staffing levels of staff, including compliance with departmental and organizational leave policies.
  • Ensure accuracy of timesheets and other administrative records as applicable
  • Conduct performance evaluations, providing coaching and feedback as needed.
  • Manage pharmacy staff development, new employee orientation, ongoing competency evaluation, and training of national quality assurance standards and regulations in coordination with management team members.

Qualifications
Required:
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Five years of experience in pharmacy practice, including or in addition to three years of experience in a health-system pharmacy practice setting for which they are supervising.
  • State of Washington Pharmacy Technician License
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws and federal and state regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Skilled at providing clear direction and feedback to team members.
  • Able to work independently and problem-solve issues using available resources.
  • Able to communicate with other health care professionals in a polite and appropriate manner.
  • Able to maintain strict standards for patient confidentiality.

Pre Employment Drug Screening:
As a condition of employment Fred Hutch conducts pre-employment drug testing for this pharmacy role. All offers of employment in the pharmacy department are conditional on the applicant successfully completing and passing a drug test in accordance with the Fred Hutch policy.
The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,476.00 to $120,681.00, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
