Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Licensed Asbestos Abatement Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform asbestos inspection, removal, and remediation activities in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of hazardous materials to protect employees, the public, and the environment. MUST be licensed with the state of Iowa to remediate asbestos.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform asbestos abatement work, including removal, encapsulation, repair, and disposal of asbestos-containing materials in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
  • Follow project specifications, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines (OSHA, EPA, NESHAP) during all phases of asbestos removal.
  • Set up and maintain containment areas, negative air systems, and decontamination units.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and ensure compliance with respiratory protection standards.
  • Collect, label, and transport asbestos waste according to legal requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections before, during, and after abatement activities to ensure compliance with project plans and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including air monitoring logs, waste manifests, and daily reports.
  • Participate in ongoing training to remain current with asbestos abatement regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers, safety officers, and other team members to ensure efficient and safe project execution.


Qualifications:

  • Valid state or federal Asbestos Abatement License/Certification.
  • Proven experience in asbestos abatement or related hazardous material handling.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NESHAP, and local asbestos regulations.
  • Ability to wear and properly use PPE, including respirators, protective suits, gloves, and footwear.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with air monitoring, clearance testing, and decontamination procedures.
  • Familiarity with other hazardous material removal, such as lead or mold abatement.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and project specifications.


Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in various environments, including construction sites, commercial buildings, and residential properties.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, and potentially hazardous materials; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
  • May require travel to multiple job sites and occasional overtime.
