Job Description:

*On-call responsibilities: minimum twice per month and regualr scheduled weekday shifts twice per month.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assess physical, mental, and psychosocial status of patient using age-appropriate knowledge.
  • Plans, evaluates and supervises care of all patients assigned.
  • Participates in working towards and fulfilling the charge nurse roll.
  • Works collaboratively with other disciplines in care of patients.
  • Competent to be the primary RN in the various cardiovascular tests/procedures done within the department.
  • Participates in formal and informal educational programs to improve technical skills.
  • Responsible for continued learning and application to practice.
  • Synthesizes patient care information to formulate appropriate nursing diagnosis.
  • Responsible to provide patient and family education.
  • Work practice reflects philosophy purpose and policies of the hospital and department.
  • Explain procedure to patient (and family, if appropriate).
  • Prepare patient for test.
  • Participates in pre, intra and post procedural monitoring (VS, EKG’s, hemodynamics).
  • Reinforces instructions given by M.D.
  • Competent to administer moderate sedation.
  • Identifies possible medication reactions and responds appropriately.
  • Assures that equipment and supplies are available as needed.
  • Assists in booking tests/procedures.
  • Participates in pre procedural process which may include but not be limited to chart preparation and telephone interview of the patient.

Education/Experience Required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic nursing process and critical thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Must have Cardiovascular Laboratory Experience within last year.
  • Must have experience with Epic EMR.
  • Must have experience with Impella, IABP, shockwave.
  • Ability to act independently in an emergency situation.
  • Experience with procedural sedation.
  • Knowledge of Cardiovascular Lab hemodynamic monitoring equipment
  • Experience with Cardiovascular Lab emergency equipment which includes but may not be limited to an Intra-aortic Balloon Pump and Temporary Pacing equipment.
  • Cardiovascular experience which may include Cardiac Diagnostic/Interventional Procedures, Pacemaker and Defibrillator Implantation, Transesophgeal Echocardiogram/Bubble Study, Cardioversion, Nuclear Stress Testing, Peripheral Vascular Diagnostic/Interventional Procedures
  • Evidence of continuing education.
  • Have or working towards advanced certification such as CCRN Certification/Cardiac Vascular Certification
  •  Evidence of strong preceptor and mentoring abilities
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • BSN or working towards.

Registration/Certification

  • Current RN Massachusetts License.
  • AHA BLS & ACLS Certification.

Pay Range:

$37.14 - $76.08

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
