Pacemaker Technician

Job Summary

Responsible for specializing in the implantation and management of pacemakers. Prepare patients for pacemaker implantation by explaining the procedure and answering any questions they may have. Assist the physician during the pacemaker implantation procedure. Program the pacemaker and adjusting its settings as needed. Monitor patients after pacemaker implantation to ensure that the device is functioning properly and that the patient is not experiencing any complications. Educate patients on the proper care and maintenance of their pacemakers. Troubleshoot and repair pacemakers as needed. Maintain accurate and detailed records of each patient's pacemaker implantation and management.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support [ACLS (AHA)] - American Heart Association (AHA) preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]

Experience

  • Completion of a Pacemaker Technician training program or equivalent work experience. 1-2 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart and cardiovascular system. Knowledge of pacemaker equipment and procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer systems used for medical record keeping. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
