Position Summary
Columbia University's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences is seeking a Full-Time Temporary Web Content Coordinator. This six-month position is hybrid and requires regular on-site work in our New York City office, in addition to remote collaboration.
The role will support Columbia Engineering's digital platforms, including the Drupal 10 institutional website, Columbia Sites, and custom WordPress builds. The Web Content Coordinator will assist with day-to-day website operations, content updates, and quality assurance under the direction of the Web Content Strategist during a period of significant web platform migration.
Key responsibilities include executing content publishing tasks, assisting with departmental website migrations, performing QA checks, and managing routine updates across multiple platforms to ensure accuracy and consistency of Columbia Engineering's digital properties.
Responsibilities
Website Content Publishing & Maintenance(35%):
  • Publish and update content across Columbia Engineering digital properties, including news stories, homepage updates, and event listings.
  • Maintain faculty profiles, research directories, and program pages to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Apply SEO metadata and ensure content adheres to Columbia Engineering branding and governance standards.
  • Identify and report broken links, 404 errors, and crawlability issues to appropriate team members.

Drupal Migration Assistance (25%):
  • Assist with migration of Engineering department websites from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10 under team guidance.
  • Execute content population, page formatting, and site structure updates during migrations.
  • Perform page testing, link validation, and launch readiness checks as directed.
  • Document and escalate migration issues to senior team members for resolution.

Quality Assurance & Platform Support (25%):
  • Perform QA validation and redirect checks for site updates and launches.
  • Conduct routine site health checks across Drupal and WordPress platforms.
  • Verify digital assets meet basic accessibility and usability standards.
  • Assist with testing of new site features or improvements as assigned.

Departmental & Stakeholder Support (10%):
  • Respond to content update requests from academic departments and centers.
  • Assist stakeholders with basic content edits, navigation adjustments, and publishing workflows.
  • Help maintain a consistent user experience across Columbia Engineering's digital ecosystem.

Perform related duties as assigned to meet evolving operational needs (5%).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience in web content management or digital communications.
  • Familiarity with Drupal and/or WordPress platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage content updates and follow established web governance standards.
