Job description

Distributor Field Sales Representative (Midwest Territory), Channel Strategy

Innovation Starts with a Bond.

Innovation starts with a bond. Since 1981, Chem-Impex has served as a partner to researchers and scientists shaping the future of life sciences. As a family-owned business, we have built a legacy on grit, integrity, and a commitment to people over transactions. Today, we are evolving by building operational and commercial capabilities that will carry our legacy into the next chapter of growth.

This role exists to bring our catalog directly to the bench. Working in the field alongside our distribution partners, you will build relationships with the researchers and labs that buy Chem-Impex products through Fisher Scientific, Avantor / VWR, and our other channel partners. You will generate pull-through demand at the end-user level, support and enable distributor sales teams, and make Chem-Impex the first name a scientist thinks of when they need a peptide building block, reagent, or custom synthesis.

What You\'ll do

  • Own sales growth across the Midwest territory, generating pull-through demand for Chem-Impex products sold through Fisher Scientific, VWR, and other distribution partners
  • Call on researchers, lab managers, and purchasing teams at pharma, biotech, academic, and industrial accounts to uncover needs and position Chem-Impex peptide building blocks, coupling reagents, amino acids, resins, and specialty chemicals
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with distributor sales representatives โ€” training them on the Chem-Impex catalog, joining ride-alongs and joint calls, and equipping them to sell our products with confidence
  • Develop and execute a territory business plan with the Channel Strategy Director to meet and exceed revenue and margin goals
  • Respond promptly to customer and distributor inquiries, follow up on leads, and route orders through the appropriate distribution partner
  • Provide technical support and product education on current and new products to both end users and distributor partners
  • Seek out new project, specification, and account-conversion opportunities within the territory
  • Represent Chem-Impex at distributor roadshows, trade shows, and industry events, including occasional travel outside the Midwest for select national or regional events
  • Maintain accurate records of customer visits, opportunities, and pipeline activity in HubSpot, and submit timely call and expense reports
  • Gather and relay market and competitive feedback to inform product, pricing, and channel strategy

What\'ll Bring

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related life sciences field; a background in peptide or organic chemistry is a plus
  • 2โ€”5 years of sales, field, or customer-facing experience, ideally in life-science distribution, reagents, or laboratory products
  • Familiarity with the distribution channel (Fisher Scientific, Avantor / VWR, or similar) and how products are sold through partners is strongly preferred
  • Ability to hold a technical conversation with scientists and translate product features into real-world applications
  • Comfort managing a territory independently, with strong planning, organization, and time-management skills
  • Based in the Midwest and willing to travel regularly across the territory for customer and distributor visits, plus occasional travel outside the region for key events; a valid driverโ€™s license is required
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred) and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

What We Offer

  • $60,000โ€“$65,000 base (DOE) + 35% on-target incentive tied to sales performance
  • Direct visibility to the company ownership. Your work will be seen and your voice will matter
  • Greenfield opportunity to help build our field and channel sales model from the ground up
  • A values-driven team with genuine tenure and institutional knowledge
  • Medical, dental, and short-term disability insurance; optional vision and long-term disability
