We are currently seeking a Vice President of Operations to join our Village and guide the operations of our dialysis services business for the WestSide Division, spanning across Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado. As the Vice President of Operations (General Manager), you will lead a team of 5-7 direct reports, ~70 centers (chronic dialysis centers and home dialysis programs) with annual revenues of ~$350+M with 700+ teammates. This is an onsite role requiring travel throughout the territory.

This Division is part of a larger group: the Dream Team. Dream Team as a whole is a $1.5B+ business with approximately 7,000 teammates and, as a key member of DaVita's field management team, this position is responsible for the general management and oversight of operations within an assigned division. As the Vice President of Operations, you will provide strategic, tactical, and team leadership, counsel, and direction to the field management of DaVita to ensure safe, efficient, therapeutic, and ethical patient care. Additionally, this position identifies and develops strategic growth opportunities, leads division performance, and works closely with the Group Vice President and business development team to develop competitive strategies in alignment with DaVita's mission and values.

We're looking for an exceptional strategic leader with a strong ownership mindset to consistently and proactively seek ways to improve the business and operationalize new ideas and insights. Our candidate must also be a strong team leader; able to attract, develop and retain talent. The Vice President of Operations will engage at all levels of the enterprise and, specifically, will be a key thought partner and work closely with the GVP as well as Finance, Strategy, People Services and Business Development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to direct reports and division team, including the direct supervision, development of and accountability for the performance of the staff

  • Oversee and/or manage all teammate employment activity effectively and professionally including hiring, promoting, job performance, evaluations, compensation, teammate relations, disciplinary actions and terminations

  • Develop and execute strategic operating plans and goals for assigned division; including:

    • Track metrics and success criteria, including ROI for all activities

    • Analyze current center trends impacting patient service delivery

    • Review, analyze and address gaps in service excellence, policies and/or procedures proactively; identify issues and implement solutions

    • Lead the creation and implementation of teammate development processes and succession planning, including mentoring, coaching and modeling appropriate leadership behaviors

  • Manage financial and revenue growth, operations and labor management, contract management and clinical outcomes within the division

  • Fulfill broad reaching, strategic responsibility for the development and implementation of proactive programs, operational improvements, communications and other division-specific general management responsibilities related to all modalities (chronic, acute, PD, home) within the assigned division. This includes leading the creation and implementation of DaVita's operating strategies within all modalities based on the identification of Best Demonstrated Practices.

  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of competition; proactively assess related SWOT (division strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats); analyze and implement effective responses

  • Use and leverage the DaVita acute strategy for entry into additional hospital joint ventures

  • Participate actively in joint venture business meeting were applicable

  • Lead the business development process for division operations

  • Maintain a liaison relationship between the corporate office and field operations

  • Develop positive work relationships with all levels of management and other departments in the Village; work collaboratively with field management, legal, finance, etc.

  • Maintain an open line of communication with the GVP regarding oversight of Field Operations

  • Develop and maintain a team of knowledgeable, skilled teammates (including management) who function in compliance with all regulatory requirements and the DaVita mission and values

  • Travel required: Weekly

Requirements:

  • Strong alignment with our Mission and Values.

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred; MBA strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience in management consulting

  • Minimum of 10 years' progressive management experience required

  • Strong leadership acumen; successful team management and development

  • Demonstrated track record of successful fiscal and operating leadership; demonstrated financial expertise

  • Healthcare industry background a plus

  • Advance computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel required; intermediate skills and proficiency in MS Work, Outlook and PowerPointrequired.
