SUMMARY


Under the general supervision of the Collections Supervisor, the Collections Officer 2 is responsible for performing a wide variety of member collections duties. Promotes and maintains a positive image of the Credit Union.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assists other team members within the Department.

Contacts members via telephone, letter, and email to determine reason for delinquency.

Reviews accounts to ensure member has complied with Credit Union requirements.

Evaluates credit lines for potential closure.

Credit Reporting Disputes: Researches and resolves all credit reporting issues and disputes.

Performs Impound Processing as assigned.

Responds to member issues, inquiries and requests and assists members with completing forms and documents.

Handles modifications, including evaluating hardship deferments, disaster relief, modification or re-age Requests.

Submits completed packets to management.

Negative Shares Duties: ODP/Negative (as assigned).

Evaluates account and loan history to determines how payment(s) will be applied.

Negotiates and establishes payment arrangements regarding loans and share accounts.

Researches account loan transactions to resolve payment errors.

Performs duties relating to death claims on loans (as assigned).

Adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations regarding all Credit-Union related areas.

Complete NOI'S and Deficiency balance letters (as assigned).

Recommends loans for collateral seizure.

Adhere to Credit Union Policies and Procedures.

Processes member requests (as assigned).

Evaluates, negotiates, and submits offers to management for recommendation or approval (as assigned).

Utilizes skip tracing platforms to locate members or property.

Trains team members as directed by Supervisor, Manager, AVP Collections or VP Collections.

Regularly attends and participates in in-house training.

Performs duties as assigned by management and may be assigned to work at any location.


The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the essential functions of this position.


Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum of two years of experience in collections or related area

The following courses must be completed by new Collections Department employees during New Employee Orientation (NEO), and by current employees within ninety days of joining Collections Department:

  1. Fair Debt Collections Practices Act
  2. Fair Debt Reporting Act (FCRA)
  3. Servicemembers Series: Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)


Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Knowledge

Credit Union products, services, programs and promotions.

Experience with computer systems and software.


Other Skills and Abilities

Performs duties accurately and efficiently, even with frequent interruptions.

Operates a variety of office equipment and machines.

Travels, attends, and participates in meetings, seminars, and conferences held before and after normal business hours that may require unaccompanied long-distance travel and overnight lodging.

Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
