Job description

The Vice President - Casino Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all gaming departments at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. This executive-level role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize profitability, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver 4-Star/4-Diamond guest service across Table Games, Slot Operations, and other casino functions. The position works collaboratively with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Team to align operational performance with the overall vision and business goals of the property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve efficiency, guest experience, and profitability across all casino operations.
  • Oversees the daily operations of Table Games and Slot departments.
  • Establishes and monitors annual operational goals aligned with market share, revenue growth, and organizational objectives.
  • Analyzes daily and monthly gaming performance reports, including win/loss and departmental financials.
  • Reviews performance data for Slot and Table Games and recommends or executes changes based on trends and analytics.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Team to support marketing, player development, and promotional initiatives.
  • Assists in the recruitment, development, and performance management of Casino Operations Directors and other executive-level department heads.
  • Ensures all operations maintain compliance with Tribal, local, and federal gaming regulations, including Title 31 requirements.
  • Promotes a professional and guest-focused work culture through leadership, communication, and accountability.
  • Acts as a strategic advisor to Tribal Council and executive leadership on matters related to gaming operations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads and motivates high-performing teams across all casino departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Sets clear expectations for departmental leadership and ensures accountability through coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintains a professional and compliant workplace by upholding all internal policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Acts as a visible and engaged leader on the casino floor, with the ability to influence at all levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven track record of strategic leadership in a large-scale casino environment.
  • Exceptional business acumen, financial analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the organization and externally.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both Slot Operations and Table Games management.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive and classified information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other business-related software systems.
  • Must be highly organized, results-driven, and capable of managing multiple complex projects.
  • Travel may be required periodically for business purposes.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master's degree or executive leadership certification is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive leadership experience in casino operations, with at least 5 years in an executive or senior-level management role.
  • Proven track record of overseeing large-scale casino operations, including slots, table games, player development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, P&L oversight, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive operational excellence, and implement service and performance standards.
  • In-depth understanding of gaming regulations, tribal gaming operations, and industry trends.
  • Prior experience in a high-volume, resort-style casino or integrated entertainment property is required.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally lifts and carries reports, binders, laptops, or presentation materials weighing up to 25 pounds; minimal lifting required, typically associated with administrative or planning tasks.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently uses hands and fingers to operate a computer, review reports, sign documentation, and interact with casino management and business intelligence systems.
  • Mobility: Frequently moves throughout all areas of the casino, including gaming floors, back-of-house operations, surveillance, cage, security, food & beverage venues, and guest service locations; must be able to conduct extensive property walkthroughs and maintain a visible leadership presence.
  • Stationary Work: Regularly remains seated for extended periods while conducting strategic planning, analyzing performance metrics, attending meetings, or completing executive-level documentation and correspondence.
  • Tool Operation: Regular use of computers, casino and enterprise management software, phones, communication tools, reporting dashboards, and standard office equipment.
  • Visual Acuity: Requires excellent near and far vision to review financial and operational reports, observe casino activity, monitor guest service delivery, and assess performance across multiple departments.
  • Working Conditions: Routinely operates in a variety of settings including executive offices, back-of-house areas, and the casino floor; frequent exposure to loud noise, flashing lights, large crowds, fast-paced operations, and a smoking environment throughout the property.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
