Hearst Texas Media Group

Location: Dallas, Texas

Position Overview

The Vice President of Advertising Sales Development is a senior leader responsible for launching a new high-performing sales team representing Hearst Media properties across Texas. The VP will be responsible for expanding the company's revenue footprint focused on developing new business, while working with the Texas markets to expand opportunity with existing select clients by building deeper relationships with enterprise customers, agencies, and regional decision-makers to accelerate penetration within key sectors including retail, technology, healthcare, financial services and regional brands.

The VP will own the full business-development lifecycle - from market strategy and prospecting to closing multimillion-dollar partnerships. The team will work with markets to leverage the integration of content, media, and strategic marketing services into cohesive client solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Seize the growth opportunity of Texas by incubating a new Hearst Texas sales organization that leverages the unmatchable Hearst footprint.

  • Establish a high-performance culture centered around accountability, pipeline discipline, customer success, and team collaboration.

  • Set quarterly and annual goals, ensure accurate forecasting, and implement effective performance management.

  • Partner closely with market leaders' CRO's, Marketing, Product, Strategy, and Operations to shape client solutions and support go-to-market efforts.

Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Own responsibility for regional revenue goals, including new business, upsell, and multi-market expansion strategies.

  • Drive aggressive prospecting and outreach to senior-level stakeholders, including CMOs, agency leadership, brand directors, and performance-marketing executives.

  • Lead the development and negotiation of large, multi-channel partnerships including content programs, paid media packages, integrated campaigns, and strategic consulting services.

  • Identify new opportunities and whitespace across major Texas markets and customized solutions.

  • Expand the company's strategic relationships with agencies (media, creative, digital, performance) across Texas, converting them into scalable revenue channels.

Texas Market Strategy

  • Execute a Texas-wide go-to-market strategy covering Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.

  • Monitor regional market conditions, competitive landscape, and client needs to inform new product opportunities.

  • Build strong relationships with influential regional partners including chambers of commerce, economic-development groups, regional brands, and local agency networks.

  • Represent the company at Texas-based industry events, media conferences, trade groups, and brand summits.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Content, Creative, Media Strategy, and Insights teams to shape compelling, data-driven proposals that align with client KPIs.

  • Partner with Product and Strategy on the development of new solutions that address Texas market trends and client demand.

  • Ensure seamless onboarding, campaign execution, and long-term client satisfaction by collaborating with Account Management and Operations.

Data, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Maintain rigorous pipeline hygiene and forecasting accuracy using CRM tools.

  • Provide regular performance reporting to executive leadership.

  • Track and analyze sales performance, market data, and client ROI to refine strategies and improve team productivity.

Qualifications

  • Deep familiarity with the Texas market landscape (Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio) including major industries and agency ecosystems.

  • 10+ years of business development, sales, or revenue leadership experience in media, marketing, advertising, digital platforms, or agency services.

  • Proven track record of closing complex, six- and seven-figure partnerships.

  • Experience leading and mentoring sales teams across multiple markets preferred.

  • Strong understanding of media planning/buying, content marketing, creative strategy, and integrated campaign development.

  • Excellent executive-level communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and forecasting abilities.
