Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Volunteer Services, the Service Learning Coordinator will create, implement and oversee volunteer programs for high school and college students with the goal of giving students learning opportunities in various healthcare careers while filling departmental volunteer needs. Programs include but are not limited to the year-round Service Learning Program for college students and the summer VolunTEEN Program for high school students.

Four-year college degree required.
Preferred:
Four-year Business, Non-profit Management or Education degree.
Experience:
Required:
At least 1 year experience working with volunteers in a non-profit organization and at least three years of experience leading a program(s) at a non-profit or for-profit organization. Must have excellent computer skills in Excel and Word, as well as excellent administrative skills. Must have excellent communication skills. Excellent organization skills is a must.

Department Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Volunteer Services, coordinates all aspects of the College Service Learning Program.
Recruits participants for the College Service Learning Program through local colleges and universities and the community, holding Information Sessions each semester.
Evaluates the college program on a regular basis for improvements, while working with department leaders to create meaningful volunteer roles that educate the students while assisting the department.
Conducts College Service Learning Program orientations each semester, following Erlanger's policies and procedures.
Oversees the college program and its participants, while keeping direct communication with the departments hosting students.
Under the direction of the Director of Volunteer Services, coordinates all aspects of the summer VolunTEEN program for high school students.
Modifies the summer VolunTEEN program each year for maximum success.
Working with the Marketing Department, creates all marketing materials, including a paper application for the summer VolunTEEN Program, markets the program to schools in the region as well as the community.
Holds interview sessions once per year for the VolunTEEN Program, and coordinates a VolunTEEN Selection Committee to choose the appropriate participants.
Works with departments across the health system to create summer learning opportunities for high school students, creating meaningful opportunities for students and the EHS departments.
Matches participants up with the appropriate roles, and conducts orientations at the start of the program that follow EHS policies and procedures.
Oversees the VolunTEEN Program during the eight weeks in June and July, including all disciplinary actions when needed.
Creates and implements VolunTEEN Lunch and Learn sessions, working with various EHS professionals.
Creates and implements reward and recognition programs for the VolunTEEN Program.
Encourages and maintains a standard of warmth, friendliness and prompt attention to all visitors, volunteers and others.
Helps maintain all volunteer records including screening information, TB test results, flu vaccines, etc., on an organized and accessible manner.
Helps complete all Human Resource-mandated reference checks, sanction checks and criminal background checks.
Assists the Director of Volunteer Services, the Volunteer Coordinator, and the Gift Shop Supervisor as needed.
