* Texas Education Code § 48.158 defines "classroom teacher as an educator who is employed by a school district and who, not less than an average of four hours each day, teaches in an academic instructional setting or a career and technology setting.
A ll salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees. The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service . These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.

EDUCATION :
Bachelors Degree
Masters Degree a plus
Experience with or at least familiarity with curriculum development, state and national curriculum standards, global education, and interdisciplinary curriculum, experiential learning
CERTIFICATION :
Valid Texas Teacher Certification by the State Board with Secondary Teaching Field - English Language Arts a plus
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Collaborates with grade level teams to create a vertically aligned internship and service learning experience for students; expands and documents internship and service learning processes and curricula; and coordinates and monitors internship experiences for students with a variety of community partners and settings.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and implements program according to the following:
1. Creates and modifies an internship handbook.
2. Works with area business and other community members to locate internship placement for students.
3. Monitors student progress in their internship, both in person and via e-mail.
4. Develops evaluative tools for assessment of the program.
5. Evaluates each intern in his or her placement.
6. Works with campus faculty to determine future needs of the internship/service learning program based upon students' experiences.
7. Networks with individuals in related fields to provide learning, internship and service learning experiences for students.
8. Develops and implements service learning opportunities for students in grades 9-12.
9. Works with campus administration to purchase resources for the program.
10. Collaborates with the campus community (students, teachers, administrators, parents) to develop a cohesive internship and service learning program.
11. Serve as the academic advisor for a small group of students as part of the advisory program.
Instructional Strategies:
12. Develops and implements lesson plans that support the District's and the campus' overall objectives.
13. Uses various forms of technology to enhance the learning process.
14. Maintains a web page to communicate lessons and deadlines to students and parents.
15. Develops and implements lesson plans to support and enhance students' workplace skills and abilities.
16. Presents subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, School Board Policies and administrative regulations.
17. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
18. Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
19. Works with campus staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to District requirements.
20. Plans and supervises assignments of teacher assistant(s) and volunteer(s).
21. Develops, facilitates and supports disciplinary and interdisciplinary units of study and grade-level portfolios that reflect the school's mission and graduate profile, including ISA's focus on international understanding and global citizenship.
22. Collaborates with the leadership team to enact school-wide initiatives that support teacher and student learning and promote the on-going development of the school.
23. Integrate and effectively use technology to promote student learning and international connections.
Student Growth and Development:
24. Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits of mind.
25. Conducts ongoing assessment of students' achievement through formal and informal testing.
26. Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
27. Sponsors outside activities approved by the campus administration.
28. Serves as a positive role model for students and supports the mission of the District and campus.
29. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for physical, social and emotional development of students.
30. Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
31. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and instructional materials.
32. Promotes access to and success in the internship experience for all students.
33. Lead high school reform efforts with a focus on educational equity and social justice.
Communication:
34. Establishes and maintains open and timely communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.
35. Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
36. Uses the District e-mail account for timely correspondence with parents, students, staff, campus partners and community members.
37. Assists campus administration in recruiting students by interacting with the community, District middle schools and partners.
Professional Growth and Development:
38. Designs learning experiences for staff and other educators to foster and serve internship and service learning development across all grades and content areas.
39. Model intellectual curiosity and actively seek out resources for school-wide internship and service learning development.
40. Participates in staff development activities to improve job related skills.
41. Facilitates and supports ISA's work as a professional development school for Trinity University.
42. Collaborates with and provides leadership to other high schools and networks with whom ISA works (e.g. Asia Society's ISSN, Coalition of Essential Schools), attend local and national conferences, and meet with visitors to ISA.
Other:
43. Uses or able to learn the latest word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
44. Maintains currency and complies with state, District and school regulations and policies for teachers.
45. Compiles, maintains and files all reports, records and other required documents.
46. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
47. Represents the school in District meetings, workshops, and initiatives as a liaison, advocate, and member of the larger District community.
48. Maintains confidentiality of information.
49. Occasionally drives personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
50. Reports to work on time every day.
51. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:- Knowledge of international and global learning, including expeditionary, service and hands-on learning
- Knowledge regarding student learning, student diversity, accommodation, differentiated instruction, learning styles, student support models and initiatives
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Ability to teach all students in a heterogeneously grouped classroom using best practice in differentiated instruction
- Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
- Valid Class "B" Texas Driver's License (Commercial) with a driving record that meets the requirements of the District - Employee must meet the standards set by the Texas Education Agency, Department of Transportation and the Texas Department of Public Safety (This requirement is for those teachers assigned supplemental duties that require transporting students in District vehicles)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
