The Volunteer Engagement Specialist builds and strengthens relationships with individuals, corporations, and community partners to grow volunteerism across Palm Beach County. This role identifies community needs, develops meaningful volunteer opportunities, and connects volunteers, service projects, and resources in ways that advance United Way of Palm Beach County's mission and create measurable impact for partner agencies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Community & Corporate PartnershipsArticulate United Way of Palm Beach County's mission in a way that inspires individuals, groups and companies to take action in service to the communityDevelop and manage volunteer opportunities, matching corporate groups and individuals to service projects and supporting the capacity-building needs of Palm Beach County nonprofits through technical assistance and volunteer placement.Provide referrals for information, resources, and capacity-building opportunities to funded partner agencies and local nonprofits. Volunteer Recruitment & PlacementPromote community volunteerism and civic engagement by collecting and disseminating information about volunteer needs and opportunities.Identify and cultivate new volunteer opportunities and facilitate the placement of volunteers with partner organizations.Actively recruit volunteers for United Way of Palm Beach County, partner agencies, and other community organizations.Engage corporate, government, and education sector partners to promote volunteerism and community service.Design and manage corporate volunteer experiences that deepen employees' understanding of community issues and strengthen their relationship with United Way of Palm Beach County.Partner with corporations to help them meet their corporate social responsibility goals and strengthen their volunteer policies and practices.Support recruitment and volunteer training for the organization's Taxes Filed Free program.Develop service-learning opportunities and engagement channels for youth volunteerism. Data Management & MeasurementMaintain the volunteer database, ensuring accurate and timely data entry, and track metrics on recruitment, referrals, and hours to measure program effectiveness.Special Projects & Event CoordinationAssist with the coordination of special projects, including food drives, school supply drives, toy drives, and similar community initiatives.Manage routine administrative tasks for the volunteer team, including supply purchasing and processing payments.Represent United Way of Palm Beach County at community events, with periodic evening and weekend availability.Support disaster response efforts as assigned by management.Assist with other duties and projects that support the department's goals. Experience/Education/Knowledge/Abilities:Two+ years of relevant experience, and volunteer coordination experience.Ability to deliver excellent customer service to partner agencies, volunteers, staff, and community members.Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues and achieve desired outcomes.Ability to identify and develop new opportunities that increase United Way of Palm Beach County's impact and meet evolving community needs.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer software and systems; experience with web-based volunteer or donor databases (e.g., Salesforce, Galaxy Digital) a plus.Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and independently when necessary.Valid Florida driver's license and vehicle to transport materials, supplies and items, with the ability to travel locally to events and meetings. Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
