Job description

The Director of Development plays a key role in advancing the mission of the Nascentia Health Charitable Foundation through annual giving, donor engagement, sponsorship development, event management, and fundraising operations. Reporting to the Vice President, Development & Strategic Partnerships, this position is responsible for managing the Foundation's annual fundraising activities, cultivating corporate partnerships, overseeing donor stewardship initiatives, supporting signature fundraising events, and ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of donor data and reporting systems. Comfortability with external and internal relations and communications (i.e. phone, email, direct mail), including but not limited to, clinicians, staff, donors, vendors, sponsors, business partners, etc.
This position requires an experienced fundraising professional who can work with a high degree of independence, exercise sound judgment, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and confidently represent the Foundation with donors, sponsors, community leaders, volunteers, and internal stakeholders. This position serves as a critical bridge between fundraising strategy and operational execution, helping to build meaningful donor relationships while ensuring excellence in fundraising administration and event delivery.
Performance Responsibilities and Standards:
Fundraising Strategy & Execution (40%):
  • Collaborate with the VP, Development & Strategic Partnerships to set and achieve annual fundraising goals and budgets.
  • Manage annual giving campaigns, including direct mail, digital appeals, Giving Tuesday, Mohawk Valley Gives, and more.
  • Develop and execute stewardship initiatives on behalf of the Foundation.
  • Design and implement programs to identify, contact, and cultivate potential donors (individual - major, corporate, sponsors, planned giving, board and employees) for the organization.

Event Coordination and Communication (30%):
  • Oversee the solicitation of donations and silent auction items for annual fundraisers.
  • Represent Nascentia Health at community and donor events to enhance relationships and increase giving.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors, event sites, registration management, auction and volunteer coordination and day-of event operations.

Foundation Operations & Administration (25%)
  • Own maintenance and growth of donor database (Bloomerang).
  • Generate fundraising performance reports and dashboards.
  • Manage gift processing workflows.
  • Assist with Foundation Board and committee support.
  • Coordinate Foundation request tracking and reporting.
  • Build and maintain critical internal relationships to advance the mission of the Foundation.

Other duties (5%)
  • Actively contribute content and feedback for newsletters, impact reports, and correspondences, highlighting Foundation news and updates.
  • Support VP, Development & Strategic Partnerships in meetings, correspondence, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, Associate degree required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of fundraising, business, donor relations, community outreach, marketing, or partnership development experience.
  • Strong in donor management, data tracking, and prospect research.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM (Bloomerang).
