Job Title: Visualization and Database Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Company: The GARRETT GROUP, Inc.

Position Overview
The Visualization and Database SME manages, integrates, and applies data visualization, database, automation, and analytical tools to support assessment planning and execution. This role requires expertise in Tableau (required), relational databases, SQL, automation programming, and modern data integration practices. The SME designs dashboards, develops database-driven applications, implements automation solutions, and integrates internal and external data sources in collaborative Agile environments.

Key Responsibilities

Data Visualization & Insight Delivery

  • Design, develop, and maintain Tableau (required) and/or Power BI dashboards to convey complex insights.

  • Translate analytical findings into intuitive visual products for leadership decision-making.

  • Optimize dashboards for performance, usability, and scalability.

Database Architecture & Management

  • Design and maintain relational database schemas using best practices.

  • Apply version control to database-driven applications.

  • Ensure database accuracy, consistency, and security.

SQL Expertise

  • Advanced SQL for querying, stored procedures, performance optimization, and data manipulation.

  • Develop and maintain database interfaces with visualization and analytical platforms.

Automation & Application Development

  • Automate data pipelines and workflows using Python, C#, and/or SQL.

  • Develop database-driven applications to streamline data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reporting.

External Data Integration

  • Integrate external databases via APIs and RSS feeds into internal systems.

  • Maintain data quality and compliance during integration.

Agile Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Contribute to iterative solution development in Agile environments.

  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, modelers, and stakeholders to deliver mission-focused outcomes.

Artificial Intelligence & Statistical Modeling

  • Apply AI/ML concepts and statistical modeling to enhance analysis and visualization outputs.

SharePoint & Enterprise Tool Management

  • Develop and manage Microsoft SharePoint assessment sites.

  • Utilize and maintain Tableau, Power BI, advanced Excel, Visual Basic, and Microsoft Office suite.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of combined experience with: Tableau (required), Power BI, SQL, Access, Excel, Visual Basic, SharePoint.

  • Clearly specify years of experience for each tool on resume.

  • Tableau certification or coursework preferred but not required.

Technical Proficiency

  • Expertise in dashboards, database-driven applications, normalization, and version control.

  • Advanced SQL and relational schema design.

  • Experience automating processes via Python, C#, or SQL.

  • Experience with APIs/RSS feeds, Agile environments, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML and statistical modeling.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, MIS, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, or related technical discipline.
