Visual Merchandising Coordinator
What will you do?
The Visual Merchandising (VM) Coordinator will drive branded executions across the AMER region, supporting both Smartwool and icebreaker. This person will support the development and regional localization of Smartwool and icebreaker's global visual merchandising strategies across retail, wholesale, and miscellaneous branded environments (tradeshows, sales meetings, pop-ups, events, etc.). The VM Coordinator will be responsible for bringing seasonal product stories to life through compelling, consumer-first presentations that reflect each brand's identity and drive commercial success. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Channel Marketing; it is a hybrid position, working 3 days/week in our Denver, CO headquarters.
A day in the life of the Visual Merchandising Coordinator looks a little like this.
Visual Strategy Execution & Seasonal Rollouts
  • Support the development and execution of seasonal visual merchandising direction across Smartwool and icebreaker for wholesale accounts and owned retail stores.
  • Translate product strategies and campaign concepts into visual guidelines, floor sets, and merchandising tools for retail stores and wholesale partners.
  • Assist in seasonal floor set planning, showroom/tradeshow setups, and miscellaneous branded environments.
  • Coordinate rollouts of visual updates, ensuring alignment with brand campaigns and GTM timelines.
  • Drive best-in-class VM execution across the America's region, ensuring consistency and strong brand/product impact.
  • Ideate new and innovative ways to create the most enticing displays in market to support sell-through, while identifying different/unique concepts as the retail landscape continues to evolve and change.
  • Lead the design, development, and rollout of window displays, in-store graphics and signage, and seasonal VM directives.
  • Understand and integrate omnichannel marketing strategy to align with in-store experience - partner with Brand Creative and Marketing, and to maintain a singular POV for styling and VM strategies.

Toolkits, Guidelines, & Communication
  • Create and maintain visual merchandising guidelines, playbooks, and planograms for retail and wholesale stores.
  • Coach and train store teams on VM standards and best practices, building strong ownership at the store level.
  • Ensure all visual standards are clearly documented, up-to-date, and easy to execute.

Execution Support/ Operations
  • Support store openings, relocations, and updates, ensuring operational excellence and brand alignment.
  • With manager support, conduct store audits, gather feedback (with photos/videos), track compliance with visual standards, and report on key findings.
  • Support the design, development, and production of regional fixtures, POS displays, and graphic signage across retail and wholesale, in partnership with Wholesale Marketing Manager.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize product placement, storytelling, and consumer engagement at point of sale, partnering with retail & sales teams to evaluate the effectiveness of visual strategies and product sell-through.

Project Management, Operations, & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Marketing on campaigns and storytelling, driving physical execution initiatives.
  • Partner with Merchandising on product assortment strategy.
  • Collaborate with creative team on visual assets, signage, and in-store storytelling.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, and Retail teams to optimize product presentation and support commercial performance.
  • Manage timelines, calendars, and deliverables for VM projects and seasonal launches.
  • Track samples, fixtures, and visual assets inventory, being the main point of contact for retail store teams.
  • Support vendor coordination and logistics for visual merchandising elements.
  • Build achievable workflows to deliver monthly and seasonal VM direction on time.
  • Lead the preparation and planning work for VM directive builds, including creation of a visual assortment tool.
  • Lead meetings for internal and cross-functional teams.

Skills for Success:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Visual Merchandising/Marketing or related field (preferred) and proven experience in visual merchandising (2+ years) within a retail and/or wholesale environment.
  • Strong ability to design, develop, and execute VM strategies (principles, planograms, and floor sets) using IWD or other visual merchandising platform.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Experience generating images and videos within AI (preferred).
  • Familiarity with creating visual guidelines, decks, and executional toolkits.
  • Solid understanding of retail dynamics and consumer shopping experience across retail, wholesale, and tradeshows, specifically how visual presentation drives sell-through.
  • Strong eye for design, color, and spatial merchandising, balancing creativity with commercial impact.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, brand-right, in-store execution.
  • Confidence in working independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams within a global/regional structure.
  • Sensitivity to brand nuance across two distinct brands (Smartwool and icebreaker).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

$57,888.00 USD - $72,360.00 USD annually
